In order to increase the internationalization of Universities in Kosovo, the Ministry of Education and the Kosovo Erasmus+ Office, held a ‘High Level Meeting’ with the Rectors of public and private Higher Education Institutions in Kosovo on: ‘Internationalization of Higher Education in Kosovo through Erasmus+: Challenges and Opportunities’.
This meeting took place today on 19th of April 2019, in the Faculty of Education premises, at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”.
Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Shiqiri Bytyqi, addressed the need to increase the participation in the Erasmus+ program through mobility of students, staff and projects. He underlined the need to focus on eliminating any barriers, so the higher education institutions can benefit as much from Erasmus + programs.
Erasmus+ Coordinator Mrs. Jehona Lushaku Sadriu, presented data on the participation of HEI of Kosovo in Erasmus+. She stressed the need to strategically plan the internationalization and support the reforms on higher education with Erasmus+. ‘This can be done by building capacities among academic staff in order to improve the quality of project applications in Erasmus+ and by increasing the capacities for project management and adequate promotion’- she sad.
Many of the Rectors and Vice Rectors discussed on the actions they are undertaking in the field of internationalization, in particular to support the mobility of students and staff. Some of the representatives mentioned their previous experiences with the Erasmus+ projects and provided recommendations on how to increase the number of applications.
At this meeting, agreed to set up a working group with the participation of all higher education institutions, which will deal with addressing challenges in the implementation of current projects, as well as drafting of an action plan.
On this occasion, a ‘Joint Declaration’ has been signed by most of the Higher Education Institutions, with which they pledge to participate actively in the Erasmus+ Program.
