ICM Monitoring

MONITORING OF INTERNATIONAL CREDIT MOBILITY PROJECTS

ICM projects are monitored by the National Erasmus+ Office (NEO) on behalf of the Directorate General for Education and Culture of the European Commission (DG EAC).
During monitoring visit, the representative of the NEO is expected to monitor all ICM bilateral agreements in each visited HEI.
The NEO representative meets with:

  • the person responsible for ICM projects;
  • students and staff members who have benefited from the mobility project
    the university hierarchy to assess the impact of the project on the institution as a whole.
  • A meeting with students’ organization(s) or representatives would be an asset.

THE OBJECTIVES OF MONITION VISITS

  • monitor compliance with the principles laid down in the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) as embedded in inter-institutional agreement(s);
  • ensure that binding documents have been correctly filled out and signed (i.e. inter- institutional agreement), and on a sample basis, learning/mobility agreements for students/staff and grant agreements;
  • ensure that Partner Country institutions use fair criteria for the selection of their participants and organize a transparent selection process;
  • ensure that the Partner Country institutions offer the services foreseen for the participants which they send abroad or host;
  • enquire about the recognition by the sending institution of the credits earned by the participant during his/her time abroad.

At the end of the visit, the NEO informs the European Commission and the relevant National Agency about the results of the monitoring.
